Chief Minister allots portfolios to ministers
The Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday allotted portfolios to all the 35 members of Council of Ministers and P Sabita Indra Reddy became the first women Home Minister of the State. The three time MLA served as the Minister for Mines and geology Minister in the earlier government. She will head 80,000 strong police force in the State at a time when the anti Naxalite operations have reached a decisive stage.
K Rosaiah retained the Finance portfolio while the Chief Minister retained the subject of Law and Order, General Administration, Public Enterprise and all other unallotted matters. The other ministers portfolios are that Dharmana Prasada Rao Revenue, N Raghuveera Reddy (Agriculture), Ponnala Lakshmaiah (Major and Medium Irrigation), Pilli Subash Chandra Bose (Social Welfare), M Mukesh Goud (BC Welfare0 retained the old portfolios. Other ministers to get key portfolios are D Sridhar Babu (Higher Education), J Krishna Rao (Civil Supplies), R Venkata Reddy (Cooperation),S Vijaya Rama Raju (Transport), V Vasant Kumar (Rural Development), Kanna Lakshminarayana (Major Industries), A Ramanarayana Reddy (Municipal Administration) Md.Ahmadulla Syed (Primary Education), C Shilpa Mohan Reddy (Housing), G Aruna Kumar (Roads and Buildings). Women have been given seizable share of the important portfolios with J Geeta Reddy (Information and Public Relations and Tourism), G Aruna Kumari (R&B) V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy (Minor Irrigation) and DK Aruna (Small Scale Industries) while Konda Surekha gets Women and Child Welfare.
As in the earlier government, Health and Medical Department will have three separate Ministers. Danam Nagender gets all important Health and Family welfare, APVVP and Hospital Services, P Sudarshan Reddy will handle the Medical Education while P Satyanarayana is entrusted with the portfolio to handle Arogyasri, 104, 108 and Medical Infrastructure. G Venkata Reddy will preside over Department of Endowments and Stamps and Registration while B Srinivas Reddy allotted Mines and Geology portfolio. Secondary Education has been bifurcated from Education for the first time as a prelude to the reforms contemplated for long, and entrusted to D Manikya Varaprasad Rao, Housing, that includes Indiramma has been given to Shilpa Mohan Reddy.
